'Golmaal Returns' shares similarities with the comedy flick 'Masti'. Before I can tell anything about the movie 'Golmaal
Returns' you definitely need a brief introduction of the characters involved in this crazy comedy roit.
Here we go...
Ajay Devgan (Gopal) is poor husband of a very suspicious wife Kareena kapoor (Ekta). Ekta is more into watching TV
serials (more like Saans bahu serials, typical Ekta kapoor... Balaji Tele serials) and imagines similar situations in her
real life.
Tusshar Kapoor (Lucky) plays the character of dumb person but he is extreemely lively and lovable. Shreyas Talpade
(Laxman Prasad Apte) has a solution for every problem. Arshad Warsi (Madhav) is the energetic ACP.
Story :
The movie revolves around doubtful wife Ekta and Gopal.
One night when Gopal is unable to reach home after saving a girl ( Celina Jaitley ) from a bunch of goons, Ekta
demands an explanation. Knowing his wife’s suspicious nature, Gopal tells her a lie that he was with his friend named
Anthony Gonsalves. But Ekta is adamant. She writes to Anthony and asks to meet him to cross-check if Gopal is telling
the truth. To hide his lie, Gopal makes his junior Laxman ( Shreyas Talpade ) pretend as Anthony. Gopal also takes
Ekta’s mute brother Lucky ( Tusshar Kapoor ) into confidence. Together the trio of Gopal, Lucky and Laxman fool Ekta
into believing in Gopal’s lie. But their bluff is called when the real Anthony Gonsalves shows up. To make things worse,
enters inspector Madhav ( Arshad Warsi ) who is investigating a murder that happened on the night Gopal stayed out of
his home. Now, Madhav is a cop who loves Gopal’s sister Esha ( Amrita Arora ), but he can’t stand the sight of Gopal.
Gopal to save his skin continues telling one lie after another. How the knots get untied, how Gopal comes out of his
troubles forms the rest of the movie.
Performance :
All the characters performed really good. None went overboard.
Tusshar Kapoor was a complete riot with his hilarious dumb act. Ajay Devgan was his usual best. Chemistry between
kareena and Ajay were perfect. All the three female leads were excellent in their performances. Arshad Warsi as ACP
was mind blowing.
Music :
Music is Average, no song worth hummable. Song 'Tha Kar Ke' is the pick of the lot.
Verdict :
Golmaal returns is packed with comedy, comedy and more comedy. Good entertainment for 3 hrs. Gives enough
entertainment to the bucks spent. |  |
